Alzheimer’s cases to double over next 20 years
With addition of 4.6 million new cases every year, the number of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia is expected to double in next 20 years. Talking to Anadolu Agency on eve of the World Alzheimer’s Day on Sept. 21, Emine Özmete, head of the Center of Ageing Studies Implementation and Research at Ankara University, said that there are 50 million people currently suffering from Alzheimer in the world. The numbers are expected to grow beyond 80 million by 2040.
